After sitting in on the H.O.R.S.E. event at the Binion's Classic, I was both pleased and disappointed. I started off during the first6 to 7 rounds with an almost abusive run as I took total control of my table, and set myself in great shape to run deep. I was picking up hands when needed, and had great reads on the others at the table that allowed me to exploit them when they missed their hands. It was really a great time, and I felt I was playing some of the best poker I have ever played. Then the wheels fell off. On the third time through the stud rounds, I watched as my boards constantly let me down. I no longer even had the option of bluffing at pots. One key hand in stud high came as I had (7 7) K 7 K 3 against another player that was showing (X X) 9 9 9 9 !!!!!! Obviously it was a HUGE pot, and was one of two that crippled me. By the time we got to RAZZ after that, I was on life support and watched my boards hit 2 pair, pair, pair, again and again. I was happy to look down at (A 4) 2 on my final hand, only to watch it run out and finish (A 4) 4 2 2 K (Q). Once again, just not a good day to catch cards.
I did love the experiance, and would recommend to everybody to get to Binions and play there before they get the new room. There is so much history at those tables that you can almost feel it.
I'm going to do my best to get back for the APC in November. Hope to see some of you there!
